SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battle

This game is not really a first person shooter even though it is in this category. It is a game relying on your intelligence and skill, eg. you will NOT be pelted with bullets and still be standing...

SWAT 3 like I said, is not a mindless shooter and even though it is in first person there are still hostages AND terrorists to be saved. It all starts in a particular week in 2005 before the nations of the world unite together for a world peace treaty. Of course it is held in Los Angeles. Anyway a week before the event dignitaries are arriving to celebrate the momentous occasion. Then some terrorists decided that 'world peace' was not the way to go and start wreaking terror on the citizens of LA and all the dignitaries. These missions start at a deranged freeway sniper to the final showdown at the LA Convention Center. They all have the storyline behind them but some is just 'normal' SWAT missions and then there is the high profile missions.

The odd thing about this game is the fact that terrorists too must be saved or at least attempted to be saved. If they've had enough they will get down and surrender at your mercy. This is where you cuff 'em and report that they are secure as opposed to executing them.

All the people are interactive - point the gun near some hostages for example and they will yell at you and the terrorists say some funny things too. Then you can also control your team. Tell them to clear a room and they will swiftly and dutifully fulfill this task.

This is a great game, but not for anybody who likes running into rooms with guns blazing watching the blood splatter onto the walls. Quite grotesque. Still, it is a good game and I can recommend it to anybody who judging by my review, think they would like it.

It is very hard to manage to kill all members of your team, because of the AI, they will shoot back at you if you fire upon them.

The spec doesn't require anything special, a PII 400 did me fine but a 3D graphics card is absolutely essential for the game to run at all.
