Half-Life Half-Life set new standards for the First-Person-Shooter category. The graphics in the game are some of the best available at the time. The game itself is very smooth (just look at the screenshots, just click them to enlarge). As soon as you start the game you are immersed by the plot, there is a sudden twist at the start (trying not to give anything away). This draws you into the game, always wanting to go back for more. You play Gordon Freeman, a Physicist for Black Mesa, when something goes terribly wrong. It's then up to you to save everyone (doesn't sound original does it but it is when you play the game for your self). The graphics in the game are quite stunning, and with the updates installed on the game, it looks even better, trust me. Half-Life is also one of the most played games online, this you will understand when you first try it out. There are also a number of multiplayer mods (available once installed from the custom game menu at the main menu) available like, Counter-Strike (also reviewed in this category), Fire-Arms, Half-Life Paintball (loads of fun!!). There is also single player mods which are basically new levels. These mods really extend the longevity of the game. Half-Life is one of those games which no one will forget. It's quite simply a must-have game, everyone should own a copy of this game. Will WorldCraft you can even create your own levels for Half-Life, although this is very tricky. This game doesn't need a 'SuperComputer' to be played well, I tested it on an AMD 850mhz, with a 32mb Graphics card, but it can be play well on a PII 400, with a 3D Graphics Card (the graphics card is important if you want to get the most out the game).
