Twisted Metal 2

I have got all 4 Twisted Metals and I am not sure if there is a fifth but this second one stands out above the rest. Ever since the first time I played the very first Twisted Metal I was addicted. I first played the Twisted Metal game by going down to the local video store and renting it out for 2 nights at a time. When Twisted Metal 2 (world tour) came out I thought I would give it a go, so as soon as I got it home and had played it for 2 minutes I knew this was one of the best games I have ever played and still is. After I had rented it once I wanted to buy to straight away but I could not afford it so I must have rented it out about 10 times. I played with my friends who also loved the game as much as me and who had also rented it about 10 times. We loved it. Then when I finally got enough money I finally went out and brought it.

I just could not ever get off this game. It is a game between Destruction Derby and more like Vigolante 8. If you liked Vigolante 8 or Destruction Derby you are sure to love this game the object of the game is to kill your enemy vehicle(s) using weapons such as homing missiles and flamethrowers. My house was like a little arcade with the amount of friends wanting to play. The game is up to two players and it was always on that even though the one player mode was good. I just can't stop saying how good this game is because I really did like to play it every day.

In the one player mode there are two games you can play either Tournament or a challenge match. In Tournament there are 8 levels you have to get through with 3 lives. And in the challenge match it was a one-on-one match with the enemy vehicle you get to choose. In the two-player mode you could either play a challenge match or a co-op tournament. In the two-player challenge match you have to battle it out with you friend in a level of your choice. In the co-op tournament you and your friend have to battle it out together through the 8 levels of this game with 5 lives between you. During both the tournament and co-op tournament games after certain levels you have to battle it out against bosses to advance to the next level.

During your play of the game you can pick up 8 weapons with are fire missiles: Standard projectile missiles with slight homing capability and moderate damage rating. A Power missile: Cause major damage to enemy vehicles and the fighting environment. A Ricochet bomb: These bombs bounce around until they strike a vehicle (including yours). The longer the bomb is in play, the more powerful it becomes. Lighting: Only available in certain battlegrounds. Be sure you're far away, or results can be shocking. First Aid Kit: Essential for maintaining your health during a battle and may be limited, so use them before your enemies do. Homing missile: Capable of zeroing in on an enemy vehicle from a distance. Napalm: An enemy struck by napalm instantly catches fire. Warning, burning cars can ignite other cars and objects they touch. And lastly a Remote Bomb: The most powerful of all weapons pick-ups, remote bombs do not explode until the fire button is pressed again or until an enemy vehicle drives into it. A flashing dot on your HUD indicates a bomb not yet detonated. Great for laying an explosive trap.

The 8 battlefields you can fight in are "Monumental Disaster" - Paris, "Suicide Slide" - Former Soviet missile base, Moscow, "Fire Walk" - Amazonia, "Hong Kong Crunch" - Hong Kong, "Fields of Screams" - Holland, "The Drop Zone" - Antarctica, "The Big Leap" - New York. During these levels you can find many little hideouts where you can hide from the opposition and wait for the right time to attack. Also during these levels you will find transporting machine, which takes you from one area of the level to another. This can be very useful if someone is chasing you, because they might not have noticed where you had gone.

You have 12 vehicles you can choose from and each have a special weapon and these are: Roadkill: Boomerang blast missiles that curve back towards your car. If you strike an enemy while the boomerang is returning, its destructive power increases three-fold. Because it is a quick-firing weapon, you must learn to control your car's speed while aiming.

Twister: Tornado spin picks up vehicles and swings them around. Be cautious when using this weapon on rooftops or cliff sides, because controlling your vehicle’s position is very difficult.

Axel: Supernova shockwave striking with the force of nuclear explosion, the weapon does more damage the closer a victim is to axel. This weapon is also effective when axel is in the air.

Mr. Slam: Grab and slam picks up an opponent in its teeth and repeatedly smashes their vehicle into the ground. Capable of causing extreme damage, the jaw slam will only pick up a vehicle if they are positioned close to the jaws. To execute, hold the firing button down to raise the jaws, and then release the button when the enemy is in range.

Shadow: Soul shadow glides along the ground. Pressing the firing button once releases the soul shadow, and pressing the button again detonates it.

Hammerhead: Monster crunch crushes an enemy under hammerhead's wheels. Simply just drive into the enemy.

Outlaw2: Omni Taser locks on to the closet vehicle and inflicts damage before zapping the enemy into the air.

Warthog: Patriot missiles missile clusters that home in on the nearest enemy. The longer the missiles are in the air, the more powerful they become.

Mr Grimm: Screaming soul a vehicle struck by this weapon will have part of its life force stripped away to be stored for the next shot.

Grasshopper: Leap 'n' slam jump high and land hard on top of an enemy. Be careful when executing this attack in enclosed spaces, because you could sub stain damage by hitting obstacles like ceilings and bridges.

Thumper: Ultra Flamer Thrower a ferocious beam of fire that bursts from underneath the vehicle’s hood.

Spectre: Ghost missiles capable of passing through walls and homing in on an enemy.

This is a game you need if you have not got it already! The graphics are good and the game play is excellent. This game is fun with both one and two players, so you can play it whenever you feel like it and still not get bored, even if you are on your own. This game might not be very well known but that should not be anything to go buy as I really enjoyed it. Because this game is getting fairly old now you could probably get it quite cheap, so if you see it around do not give it second thoughts just buy it.
